High School: Named first team all-district, all-area East, as a junior, leading Grand Rapids Christian to a state runner-up finish and a 30-8 overall record ... played under head coach and former major-leaguer Brent Gates (Athletics/Twins/Mariners 1993-99) ... set a school record with seven saves and had a 3-1 record with a 1.85 ERA in 30 IP ... held opposing batters to a .109 average against ... offensively, batted .477 with 53 hits, eight doubles and 31 RBIs, also recording 16 stolen bases ... as a senior earned first team all-state honors as well as Dream Team, led Grand Rapids Christian to a state championship.
