KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team will square off with Detroit Mercy on Sunday at Titan Field. The two teams are slated to kickoff at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Western Michigan dropped its first game of the season on Sept. 3, falling to Illinois by a final score of 3-0. It was the first home loss for WMU since the 2023 season.
Despite the setback,
Reagan Sulaver played well in net. The sophomore goalkeeper stopped three shots from the Fighting Illini.
SPREADING THE WEALTH
WMU has been known as one of the top offensive teams in the MAC under
Lewis Robinson's leadership, and the 2026 Broncos are no different.
Through five games, eight different players have recorded at least one point and five players have multiple points.
Tessa Fagerson leads the way with two goals and an assist.
Meredith Vance has been a facilitator, leading the MAC with two assists.
ROBINSON'S REIGN
Under head coach
Lewis Robinson, the Broncos have dominated against Horizon League opponents. Since his debut in 2022, Robinson is 5-0-2 against Horizon League foes, including a 2-0-1 record against Detroit Mercy.
In those matches, the Brown and Gold have outscored Horizon League teams by a total of 16-3. UDM has two of those three goals, including one is last year's game. The Broncos earned a 4-1 win at the WMU Soccer Complex.
SCOUTING THE TITANS
Detroit Mercy is off to a 2-3-0 start in 2026, earning wins over Eastern Michigan and Valparaiso. The Titans have losses to Kentucky, Toledo and Wayne State.
The Brown and Gold lead the all-time series, 7-5-1. However, Detroit Mercy holds a 3-2-1 edge on home turf. The Broncos are unbeaten in their last five games against the Titans, with the last loss coming back in 2003. WMU has wins against UDM in each of the last two seasons.
Just three players have points for the Titans, with Emma Henry leading the way through five games. She has five points on two goals and an assist. Avery Mondoux and Sam Sickinger each have one goal so far this season.
In net, Eva Hill has received the bulk of the work. In four starts, she owns a 1-3-0 record, 2.24 goals against average and .724 save percentage. Izzy Rener has made one start this year, picking up a win over Valpo.
