KALAMAZOO, Mich – Western Michigan Women's Soccer drew a 1-1 tie in a rainy contest against Ball State this past Sunday.
Camryn Huhn scored the lone goal for the Broncos in the contest, coming in the 31st minute. The Broncos are now 3-2-4 on the season.
FIRST HALF
The Broncos dominated early possession, showing great energy across the pitch despite the rainy conditions. On one of those early possessions, a Simone Sharpless shot attempt in the fifth minute ended up going just wide.
WMU would maintain their energy from there, holding possession of the ball for 58% of the first half and keeping Ball State on their back foot. The energy culminated when Meredith Vance found Camryn Huhn through traffic for Huhn's second goal this year.
The Broncos maintained their 1-0 heading into halftime.
SECOND HALF
WMU continued to play hard coming out of the half, with Tessa Fagerson firing a shot two minutes into the half and forcing the Cardinals goalie to make the save.
As half progressed, WMU continued to control possession. The Broncos saw three corner kicks throughout the second half, all of which ended in scoring opportunities. Later, in the 74th minute, Kaiya Stewart fired a rocket off her right foot that the Cardinals goalie was just able to get too, keeping the game at 1-0 Broncos.
With time winding down, the Broncos found themselves on the defense of a Ball State attack where they would end up scoring a header with just over one minute remaining in the game.
The game ended at 1-1.

The Broncos play at Toledo on Friday, Sept. 25. The game is slated to kick off at 7 pm.
