KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan women's soccer went on the road Friday, earning a 3-0 victory against Toledo. The win pushes the Broncos to a 4-2-4 overall record and a 2-0-1 record in the MAC.

FIRST HALF
The Broncos once again started with early energy, controlling possession in their attacking third for most of the opening 15 minutes. The Brown and Gold found some early chances through
Meredith Vance and
Camryn Huhn, but neither chance found the net.
In the 11
th minute, Toledo created a scoring chance, but the WMU defense cleared the opportunity before a shot could develop. From there, the Broncos continued applying pressure. Later in the half,
Meredith Vance and
Kaiya Stewart generated some scoring chances by way of close-range crosses that Toledo was able to fend off.
The defensive battle continued throughout the first half. Neither side recorded a shot on goal until the 36
th minute, when
Kaiya Stewart fired an attempt from the left side of the box, forcing the Toledo goalkeeper to make her first save of the game.
WMU would find one more scoring opportunity before the end of the half as a ball floated to
Camryn Huhn, but her attempt sailed just over the crossbar. The teams entered halftime scoreless.
SECOND HALF
After dominating possession for much of the first half, the Broncos finally capitalized just two minutes into the second half after
Kaiya Stewarts's shot forced the Toledo goalkeeper out of position, allowing
Simone Sharpless to finish the opportunity and give WMU a 1-0 lead. This was the first goal in Sharpless' collegiate career.
WMU went up 2-0 in the 49
th minute as Sharpless would help create another milestone moment when her corner kick found
Gracie Lynn, who also buried her first collegiate goal. The Broncos weren't done yet as
Tessa Fagerson found
Kaiya Stewart wide open where she fired a shot to the bottom left side of the net, giving the Broncos a 3-0 advantage just eight minutes into the second half.
From there, the Broncos would continue to handle business by limiting Toledo down on offense, keeping them from registering a shot on goal throughout the match.
The Brown and Gold closed out the Rockets, ending the contest with a 3-0 final score. The win marks
Lewis Robinsons' 50
th victory as head coach of Western Michigan.
