KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan track and field team is heading to Muncie, Ind. for the MAC Outdoor Championships. The conference meet is set for May 14-16 at the Briner Sports Complex.

RETURNING CHAMPIONS
The Broncos have two returning MAC Champions in Mabinty Kebe and Sandra Ferrari. Kebe is a two-time 400-meter hurdles champion and Ferrari is the defending champ in the long jump. Kebe won the 400 hurdles last season by nearly two seconds, securing a time of 57.46. 

Ferrari took the top spot in the long jump with a top leap of 6.29 meters. That mark broke the program record, and the next closest mark in the competition was 6.17 meters.

SOME OF THE MAC'S BEST
WMU has a plethora of top talent in the MAC this season, beginning with Soniya Jones in the 100-meter dash. She leads the conference with a top time of 11.52. Mabinty Kebe and Sandra Ferrari are also first in the conference in the 400-meter hurdles and long jump, respectively. 

The Brown and Gold have several others in the top five of their events. Ava Kurczewski ranks second in the 3K steeplechase, while Sierra Sommers is second in the shot put. Outside of that, Laurine Elisa Marimon (triple jump) and the 4x400 relay team rank fourth in the conference. Sitting at fifth in the MAC are Lillian Zelasko (10K), Ferrari (100m hurdles) and Sommers (discus).
