KALAMAZOO, Mich -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team collected three major Mid-American Conference postseason awards, highlighted by head coach
Lewis Robinson earning his fourth consecutive MAC Coach of the Year honor, the conference announced Friday. Junior defender
Kailah Newcomb was named MAC Defensive Player of the Year, while
Tessa Fagerson earned MAC Forward of the Year honors.
MAJOR AWARDS
The Broncos placed four players on the All-MAC First Team, one on the All-MAC Second Team and four on the MAC All-Freshman Team. Fagerson, Newcomb, Kaiya Stewart and Meredith Vance earned first-team recognition, while June Mullen was selected to the second team. Camryn Huhn, Simone Sharpless, Gracie Lynn and Reese Lynn rounded out WMU's postseason selections with All-Freshman Team honors.
Robinson earned his fourth straight MAC Coach of the Year award after guiding the Broncos to a 10-4-4 overall record and an 8-2-1 mark in conference play. Since taking over the program in 2022, Robinson has established Western Michigan as one of the conference's premier programs, leading the Broncos to three consecutive MAC regular-season championships and back-to-back tournament titles in 2024 and 2025.
Newcomb earned MAC Defensive Player of the Year honors after anchoring a Western Michigan back line that allowed just 16 goals in 18 games. The junior started all 17 games she appeared in, logging 1,446 minutes while helping the Broncos limit opponents to just 8.9 shots per contest. Her consistent presence on the back line also earned her a spot on the All-MAC First Team.
Fagerson was named MAC Forward of the Year and earned All-MAC First Team recognition following an impressive offensive campaign for the Brown and Gold. Across eight goals and four assists, she led the Broncos in overall points with 20. Her ability to create scoring opportunities, contribute in the attacking third and consistently pressure opposing defenses made her a key component of Western Michigan's offense throughout the season.
ALL CONFERENCE SELECTIONS
Alongside Fagerson and Newcomb, Stewart and Vance earned All-MAC First Team recognition for their contributions throughout the 2026 campaign. Stewart's eight goals and three assists provided a consistent presence for the Broncos, while Vance led the MAC in assists with eight. The two-way play-style from Vance played an important role in WMU's success on both sides of the ball.
Mullen was named to the All-MAC Second Team following a productive season for Western Michigan. She contributed to the Broncos' offensive attack throughout conference play, including a goal against Kent State off a corner kick from Fagerson.
Camryn Huhn, Simone Sharpless, Gracie Lynn and Reese Lynn each earned MAC All-Freshman Team honors after making immediate contributions in their first collegiate seasons.
Huhn provided an offensive spark for the Broncos, including three goals. Sharpless recorded her first collegiate goal and assist during the season, while Gracie Lynn emerged as a scoring threat, including a 25-yard goal against Kent State. Reese Lynn also contributed to the attack, assisting on her sister Gracie's goal against the Golden Flashes.
