KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Senior captain Owen Michaels was selected as the NCHC Forward of the Week, the league announced this afternoon. 

The Northville, Mich. native was outstanding in a sweep at No. 7 Denver, tallying four points on two goals and two assists. He also went 51 percent in the faceoff circle, including 26 total wins. 

Michaels opened the weekend with an assist on WMU's fourth goal, which was a shorthanded tally to put the game out of reach. He followed that up with a three-point outing, scoring twice and handing out an assist. His second goal of the night proved to be the game winner. He also assisted on WMU's sixth and final tally of the game, helping the Broncos improve to 16-6-0 on the season. 

The big weekend pushed him to 17 points on seven goals and 10 assists. He's top five on the team in points, goals and assists through 22 games. 

Michaels and the Broncos are off this week, but the team will be back in action at Minnesota Duluth on Jan. 23-24. The series opener is slated to being at 8 PM ET.
