KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Former Western Michigan volleyball players
Anna Calcagno and
Logan Case have signed deals to play volleyball professionally in Europe. Calcagno has signed with UNEC in Azerbaijan, while Case has joined Fer Volley in Kosovo.
An outside hitter from St. Charles, Ill., Calcagno spent three years at Western Michigan after beginning her collegiate career at Marshall. In her career, Calcagno amassed nearly 900 kills and over 1,000 points, with the vast majority coming for the Brown and Gold. In 2023, she was named to the All-MAC Second Team after helping the Broncos go a perfect 18-0 in conference play and capture their first regular season MAC championship since 2008.
A two-time Academic All-MAC honoree, Calcagno was named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team after helping the Broncos to their second straight conference tournament title in 2024. Calcagno graduated from WMU in the summer of 2024 with a bachelor's degree in Marketing.
Case concluded her career as a Bronco as both the program and the Mid-American Conference's all-time leader in career assists. Her 6,476 career assists also rank as the fifth-most in NCAA Division I history. The setter from Maineville, Ohio, racked up a litany of awards during her time in Kalamazoo, including five All-MAC First Team selections, four AVCA All-Region honors, three MAC Setter of the Year awards and the 2020 MAC Freshman of the Year. During the historic 2023 season, Case was voted the MAC Player of the Year and was recognized as an All-American by both the AVCA and VolleyballMag.com. She was also named MAC Tournament MVP in back-to-back seasons, helping the Brown and Gold capture the 2023 and 2024 titles and make a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
Named Academic All-MAC four times and CSC Academic All-District three times, this past January, Case became the first WMU volleyball student-athlete to be named an Academic All-American three years in a row. She graduated from WMU in December of 2024 with a bachelor's degree in French.
