Broncos Drop Road Match at No. 7 Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Western Michigan women's soccer team was upended, 2-0, by No. 7 Iowa on Sunday afternoon at the Iowa Soccer Complex.

Freshman goalkeeper Reagan Sulaver collected a career-high nine saves in the setback.

FIRST HALF
The Hawkeyes controlled most of the play in the first half, getting a pair of looks on net in the opening 10 minutes. Sulaver was there to make both stops.

Iowa's persistence would pay off in the 26th minute, as Josie Jones was able to find the back of the net to make it 1-0 in favor of the home team. The Broncos started to settle in from there, generating a few runs on offense.

The WMU defense made a great play in the 31st minute, clearing a scoring chance off of the line. Sulaver would go on to make one more save before reaching the half.

SECOND HALF
Abby Werthman would get WMU's first shot of the game a little bit into the second half after a nice run on the left sideline. She put the ball over top of the net for a goal kick. Not too long after that, Mira Pierre-Webster fired a shot on net that Iowa was able to handle.

The Broncos continued to apply pressure, as Meredith Vance had a shot miss just outside of the right post in the 60th minute. Following that, WMU would get a corner kick. The Brown and Gold would get the ball in the box, but the Hawkeyes would eventually get out of danger.

Despite the constant pressure by Western Michigan, it would be Iowa that would get on the board. The Hawkeyes added a second goal in the 73rd minute. Down the stretch, Avery Peters would look to get the offense going. She had a nice touch in the box and was eventually taken down. However, the officials would let the two teams play on.

The Hawkeyes would go on to close out a 2-0 win.
