Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 20 Western Michigan falls to No. 12 Dayton

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The #20 University of Western Michigan men's soccer team wasn't able to contain the high-powered #12 Dayton Flyers offense in a 4-0 loss on Sunday.

The Brown and Gold allowed three goals in the first half of the match and didn't find the back of the net through 90 minutes against the Flyers. "Dayton is a very strong team that is well coached, and they know exactly who they are," said Head Coach Chad Wiseman following the match. "I'm not sure the score line is an indication of how the game actually played out. Dayton probably leaves Kalamazoo saying they left several goals out there."

The Flyers struck early on Sunday afternoon with a goal in the second minute of the match. The Broncos continued to remain overwhelmed by Dayton's offensive pressure as the Flyers added on goals in the 21st and 40th minutes to make it a 3-0 game after 45 minutes. Western Michigan's offense was able to get three chances in the first half, with two landing on goal for forward Sahel Yessen and forward Connor Burkett.

The Broncos offense picked up the pace slightly in the second half with a corner kick and two shots on goal in the first 12 minutes. But Dayton soon made Western Michigan pay with a fourth goal in the 59th minute. The Broncos almost broke the shutout in the 72nd minute as defender Carter Cormier had an excellent bicycle kick into the net after a potential corner kick chance. But the goal was disallowed as WMU was called offsides by the far line judge.

"Our schedule doesn't get any easier moving forward. We will be looking for guys that want to empty the tank on game days.

"I apologize to Bronco Nation for that performance. We must be better, and we will be better. We must play with more pride and passion."
