Matteo Costantini Signs Deal in Buffalo Sabres Organization

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan assistant captain Matteo Costantini signed a two-year contract with the Rochester Americans, which is the AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres. 

Costantini played a big role in helping the Broncos earn the 2025 National Championship, along with the Penrose Cup and NCHC Frozen Faceoff title. 

The St. Catharine's, Ontario native played two seasons in the Brown and Gold after transferring from North Dakota. His career took off in Kalamazoo, as he went on to produce 54 points on 19 goals and 35 assists. He played in 78 games for the Broncos. 

In his entire career, he skated in 138 games, totaling 78 points on 29 goals and 49 assists. He was +37 in those games and won over 50 percent of his faceoffs. He added seven power-play goals and three game-winning goals. 

He had a strong senior season, posting 23 points on eight goals and 15 assists. Costantini had the primary assist on the game-winning goal against Denver to send Western Michigan to the national championship game. 

The Canadian center was big when it mattered most, scoring a bulk of his points this season against teams that were ranked or receiving votes. Of his 23 points, 14 came against teams getting recognition in the national polls.
