KENT, Ohio – The Western Michigan baseball team dropped a 16-4 decision at Kent State on Saturday in the middle game of the two teams' three-game MAC series.

Kent State jumped out to an early lead, plating eight runs in the bottom of the first. The hosts then tacked on two more in the bottom of the third.
Western Michigan cut into the deficit in the top of the fourth.
Michael Maloney notched an RBI single, and
Avery Thielman followed with a ground-rule double to bring in another for WMU. Thielman's two-bagger put runners on second and third with one out for the Broncos, but the visitors were unable to add any more runs in the frame.
The Golden Flashes responded with six in the bottom of the fourth, stretching the margin back out to 16-2.
Western Michigan pulled two back again in the top of the fifth, with
Dylan Nevar and
Lucas Rick collecting the RBIs.
The Broncos and Golden Flashes wrap up their three-game weekend series on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1 pm.
