Men's Basketball Signs Transfer Jalen Griffith

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball program and head coach Dwayne Stephens have announced the signing of transfer guard Jalen Griffith from Navarro College. Griffith becomes the fifth newcomer the Broncos have signed for the 2025-26 season, joining incoming freshmen Sharod Barnes (Ypsilanti, Mich.), Brady Swartz (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Camden Thompson (Whitehall, Mich.) and Carson Vis (Byron Center, Mich.).

"Jalen is a dynamic point guard who affects the game on both sides of the ball," Stephens said. "He is a hungry and competitive individual who is ready to lead and make others around him better. We are ready for him to get to Kalamazoo!"

Griffith arrives in Kalamazoo after spending last season at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. He started all 32 games during the 2024-25 campaign, averaging 15.4 points, 5.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 steals per contest. Griffith was a First Team Region 14 honoree after ranking second in assists and third in scoring. He helped guide the Bulldogs to a 19-13 record and the quarterfinals of the Region XIV Tournament.

The Chicago native began his collegiate career at Jacksonville, where he played in 21 games, starting two, as a true freshman in 2023-24. Griffith's first collegiate start came in December of that season against Trinity Baptist, and saw him put up 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. That season, the Dolphins finished 16-17 and were the No. 10 seed for the Atlantic Sun Tournament, and upset their way to the tournament's semifinals.

Griffith played his high school career at Simeon Career Academy in Chicago, where he was the point guard for a team which was ranked No. 1 in the state for much of his senior season. The Wolverines went 32-4 that year and were the IHSA Class 3A state runner-up. During his high school career, he won two city championships, was named MVP of his team multiple times and earned First Team All-Conference and First Team All-State selections.
