IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Western Michigan men's basketball team dropped a 91-51 decision at #23 Iowa on Sunday afternoon.
Jalen Griffith and
Carson Vis paced WMU (5-6) with 11 points apiece, with Vis' 11 points tying his career high.
Jayden Brewer was also in double-figures, netting 10 points for the Brown and Gold.
Hudson Ward led Western Michigan on the boards with a career-high tying seven and Griffith handed out a team-leading five assists.
Iowa (9-2) was out of the gates quickly, tallying the game's first eight points. With their edge at 12-7, the hosts used seven consecutive points to kickstart a 22-3 surge which boosted their advantage to 34-10. The Hawkeyes then notched the final nine points of the period to take a 52-16 lead into the locker room. Iowa continued to build the margin after the intermission.
The Broncos were 17-of-57 (29.8 percent) from the field for the afternoon, while Iowa made 33-of-59 (55.9 percent) of its field goal attempts.
