Box Score 1 KALAMAZOO, Mich./OXFORD, Ohio -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team fell at home to Buffalo, 6-1, on Friday before heading to Miami Ohio on Sunday and falling to the RedHawks, 5-2.
FRIDAY
The Broncos opened the weekend taking the doubles point from the Bulls.
Lola Glantz and
Audrey Smitek earned a 6-2 win over Jagmeet Kuar and Blanca Berges and then Freida Weijerman and
Polina Khotko secured the point with a 6-4 win at No. 3 over Marta Giglio and Liv Roestel.
Buffalo took every singles point, winning at No. 1, 2 , and 5 in straight sets to take a 3-1 lead. Weijerman battled Kuar to three sets, including a tie-breaker in the third but Kuar won the tie-breaker 7-4 to secure the match victory. Khotko and Smitek also fell in three sets to their opponents.
SUNDAY
Miami took the doubles point to open Sunday's match with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Weijerman got the Broncos on the board in single with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Nishitha Saravanan, with Khotko earning the other point in a 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 1-0 (10-8) win at No. 4 over Emilia Valentinsson. Miami took No. 1, 2, 5, and 6 singles in straight sets.
ON THE HORIZON
Western Michigan heads to Bowling Green on Friday to close out the 2024-25 season, taking on the Falcons at noon.
