KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan split its series with Arizona State this past weekend, and the Broncos remained among the top teams in the nation in the latest polls.
In both the USCHO and USA Hockey/The Rink Live polls, the Brown and Gold checked in at No. 4. WMU got a first-place vote in each poll, marking the second straight week Western Michigan has gotten at least one first-place vote.
NCHC wise, Denver, Arizona State, North Dakota and Colorado College joined the Broncos in the national polls. Omaha was receiving votes in both polls. The Brown and Gold are 23-6-1 overall and 16-3-1 in NCHC play. WMU leads the conference with 47 points.
Western Michigan has a chance to make history this weekend by securing its first ever Penrose Cup. The Broncos will take on North Dakota on Feb. 28-March 1. Friday's series opener is set for 7 PM EST at Lawson Arena.
