Louisville opened the scoring for the second consecutive day, tallying a pair in the bottom of the second.

The Broncos pulled one back in the next half inning. Cooper Hums led off with a base hit, stole second, advanced to third on a bunt single by Tanner Mally and then scored on a passed ball to cut the deficit to 2-1. Mally had a team-high three hits for the afternoon, while Hums had a pair of knocks for Western Michigan.

WMU starter Joey Wizceb kept the Cardinals off of the scoreboard in three of the next four innings to keep the visitors within striking distance. In all, the southpaw worked 6.2 innings, allowing four runs on six hits.

In the fifth, the Broncos had two runners on with two outs, but could not take advantage. Louisville pushed across an insurance tally in the home half to make it 3-1.

Grady Mee led off the seventh inning with a single, then went all the way to third on a bunt single by Hums. One out later, Mee raced home on a wild pitch to trim the margin to 3-2. Hums advanced to third on the play, but was stranded there.

Louisville stretched its lead out to five by plating four two-out runs in the bottom of the seventh.

The Broncos and Cardinals close out their three-game series on Monday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm on ACCNX.
