LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Western Michigan baseball team opened up its three-game weekend series at Louisville with a 14-3 loss on Saturday afternoon.

Louisville grabbed the lead early, plating four in the bottom of the first.
The hosts added another in the second, pushed across seven in the fourth and picked up one in the fifth.
Western Michigan notched all three of its runs in the sixth inning.
Avery Thielman and
Marwynn Matthews Jr. started the frame by drawing back-to-back walks. After a wild pitch advanced both runners,
Tanner Mally brought Thielman around with a single to get WMU on the board.
Two outs later,
Lucas Rick delivered a pinch-hit single to plate Matthews.
Grady Mee followed with a run-scoring knock of his own to cap the frame for the Broncos.
Louisville picked up a single tally in the bottom of the sixth to wrap up the afternoon's scoring.
