KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan football program and head coach Lance Taylor have announced the hiring of Kyle Perkins as the team's new assistant coach for wide receivers.
Perkins spent the past two seasons as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Elon. While at Elon he coached FCS All-American Chandler Brayboy, who had back-to-back career-best years with Perkins has his position coach. Prior to Elon he was the assistant wide receivers coach at Georgia during their 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship run.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kyle Perkins to the Bronco football family as our Wide Receivers coach," said Taylor. "He comes to Kalamazoo after serving as the WR Coach at Elon for the last 2 seasons. Prior to Elon he won a National Championship in 2022 while serving as the assistant WR Coach at Georgia and brings high-level experience from some of the best programs in the country including Georgia, Oregon, and Wake Forest. Kyle has a special ability to connect with young men, mentor them, and help them reach their full potential on and off the field. His passion for the game and for building relationships will make an immediate impact in our program. I am excited to add Kyle to our staff and program"
Perkins was also an assistant wide receivers coach at Oregon (2021) and Wake Forest (2019-20). With the Demon Deacons he helped coach the receivers corps to three straight bowl games. Perkins also served as the Bill Walsh Intern with the Arizona Cardinals in 2021. Through his decade of coaching, Perkins has coached 13 players that have played in the NFL: Ladd McConkey, Mitchell Shegos, CJ Germany, Greg Dortch, Alex Bachman, Kendall Hinton, Scotty Washington, Sage Suratt, JaQuarii Roberson, Devon Williams, Johnny Johnson III, Jaylor Redd and Kearis Jackson. Roberson, Suratt and Dortch all earned All-American honors at Wake Forest under Perkins.

The Westlake, Ohio, native got his start in coaching at his alma mater, Notre Dame College. He was an All-Conference wide receiver and team captain for the Falcons and in his final year earned the National Football Federation post-graduate scholarship.
Perkins holds a bachelor's degree in Public Relations and a masters in Liberal Studies.
