KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan was able to maintain its spot at the top of the national polls, which were released this afternoon.
The Broncos were ranked first in both the USCHO and USA Hockey polls this week, earning 943 points and 32 first-place votes in the USCHO poll and 638 points and 24 FPV in the USA Hockey rankings.
Michigan State, Boston University, Penn State and Denver rounded out the top five in both polls. The NCHC had eight teams ranked or receiving votes in both polls. Miami was the lone conference team to not be recognized in the national rankings.
WMU is fresh off of a dominating 7-0 victory over the USNTDP on Saturday night. The Brown and Gold had six different goal scorers and 12 players recorded at least on point in the game.
Western Michigan will open the regular season on Thursday at home against Ferris State. Puck drop is set for 7 PM at Lawson Arena. Prior to the game, the Broncos will raise the 2024-25 National Championship banner.
