THIS WEEK
Western Michigan heads on the road to take on Miami (OH) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The game can be watched live on ESPN+ and heard live on the Bronco Media Network.
THE SERIES
Miami holds the all-time series lead at 38-24-1. The last meeting came back in 2023 in Kalamazoo, with the RedHawks winning 34-21. That game snapped an eight-game winning streak for Western Michigan against Miami that stretched back to 2006.
SPIDER-MAN MEME
Beyond having the same record of 4-3 (3-0 MAC), the Broncos and the RedHawks have a lot of similarities when it comes to the 2025 season.
On offense, the two teams are separated by just 42.3 yards with Miami averaging 360.6 and Western Michigan averaging 318.3. MU averages 26.0 points per game to WMU's 22.6, while time of possession is separated by just 1:28 (32:17-30:50) in favor of the Broncos. Both team's quarterbacks lead the team in rushing. Western Michigan's
Broc Lowry has 427 yards on 83 carries, while Miami's Daquan Finn has 332 on 70.
On defense, the Broncos and the RedHawks are No. 1 and 2 in the MAC in sacks. WMU has 28, while MU has 22. Each defense has produced 11 turnovers on the season.
52 YEARS IN THE MAKING
WMU sophomore quarterback
Broc Lowry made a little bit of history in the 42-0 win over Ball State. Lowry had 13 carries and rushed for a career-high 108 yards and one touchdown. Lowry became the first Bronco quarterback to run for 100 yards since Paul Jorgensen against Northern Illinois on Sept. 22, 1973.
Lowry's rushing touchdown against the Cardinals was his seventh of the season. He's the first WMU quarterback to rush for at least seven touchdowns in a season, matching Zach Terrell's output in the historic 2016 MAC Championship/Cotton Bowl season. No quarterback has rushed for more than seven touchdowns in a season since Albert Little had 12 in 1977.
+9
The Bronco defense recorded five sacks in the win over Ball State, its third-straight game with at least five. The performance pushed the team's total to 28 on the season. WMU's defense now has nine more sacks than it did all of last season. The total has also already eclipsed the 2023 output of 2023 and needs just three more to reach the 2022 total of 31.
WMU's 28 sacks have matched or eclipsed the season totals off 11 teams since 2000 (not including the COVID-shortened 2019 season).
CHAOS LEADER
Senior defensive end
Nadame Tucker has been wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks and offensive lines this season. Through seven games he has 8.5 sacks, tying for third-most in the nation and just 0.5 behind MAC-leader Nathan Voorhis from Ball State. Tucker has recorded 5.5 of his sacks in MAC play.
The New York, N.Y., native is also tied for second in tackles for loss with 12.5. His 12.5 have led to a net loss of 80 yards for opponents.
