KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team hosts Grand Valley State on Friday at 12:30 p.m. before heading to South Bend to take on Notre Dame on Saturday at 11 a.m.
LAST WEEK
The Broncos opened the Spring Season with three wins last weekend. On Friday they took down Marquette 5-2 and then swept Ferris State and Hillsdale on Sunday, 7-0. The win over the Golden Eagles was the first career dual match win for first-year head coach Joelle Kissell.Â

Audrey Smitek were a big key to last weekend's success. The duo was slotted as the Broncos' top doubles pair and they responded by going 2-0. They helped Western Michigan earn the doubles points in the wins over Marquette and Hillsdale, with their match against FSU going unfinished.Â
For their performance, the pair were named the Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week.
TOUGH ROAD AHEAD
After Friday's GVSU match, the Broncos will face Power 5 programs in three of their next six. WMU visits Notre Dame on Saturday, Michigan State on Sunday, Feb. 2 and then Indiana on Friday, Feb. 21. All three are on the road.Â
HOME SWEET HOME
Western Michigan returns home to host Youngstown State on Friday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. and then welcome Cleveland State the following day, also at 11 a.m.Â
