EAST LANSING, Mich. – Keona Salesman put down a match-high 17 kills and
Logan Case racked up her fifth consecutive double-double to help the Western Michigan volleyball team to a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-21, 25-21) at Michigan State on Wednesday night.

Salesman, who has had double-digit kills in all six matches this season and 15 or more in four in a row, notched her 17 kills on a blistering .471 hitting percentage (17-1-34). Case's fifth straight double-double came on 35 assists and 11 digs. The fifth-year setter fueled an attack which hit .306 for the night. In addition to Salesman's tally, the trio of

Anna Calcagno and
Annalise Patchett recorded eight kills apiece.
Andelyn Simkins kept her double-digit dig streak alive, posting a team-high 14 for the evening. WMU's fifth-year libero also notched a season-high seven assists.
Elana Erickson added eight digs to the cause and served up a pair of aces.
Western Michigan started fast, tallying five of the night's first seven points. Holding a 6-4 edge, the Brown and Gold used a 10-3 extended run to open up a 16-7 cushion. Michigan State answered, clawing back to within three, 17-14. At 18-15, WMU went on another scoring spree, rattling off seven of the next nine to put the first set away. The Broncos hit .382 in the opening frame, with Salesman notching eight kills to lead the attack.
WMU kept the momentum rolling in the second as it notched the first six points of the frame on the way to an 8-1 start. The Spartans closed the gap to 13-10, before a 5-2 spurt helped the Broncos get the margin back to six, 18-12. MSU worked its way back to within two on a pair of occasions, including 23-21, but kills by Brusek and Salesman sealed the set and put Western Michigan up 2-0 heading into the break.
Michigan State got out to a 5-1 edge early in the third, but the Broncos came right back with six straight and eight of the next nine to move in front, 9-6. Moments later, an 8-1 surge helped WMU's advantage balloon to 18-9. The Spartans never got closer than three the rest of the way, as Western Michigan cruised to the straight-set victory.
WMU continues its busy week with three matches at the Erie Insurance Invitational, which is being hosted by James Madison down in Harrisonburg, Va. The Broncos open the tournament on Friday at 6 pm against UC San Diego.
