KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan cross country program and head coach
Kevin Cataldo have announced the 2024 schedule, which features four regular season meets across the Midwest and a competitive postseason slate.
The Broncos open the season at the Winrow-Valparaiso Open on Aug. 30. The Broncos finished third as a team at last year's event and had
CJ Nixon,
Madison Clor,
Brooke Soper,
Delaney Knoll and
Madison Zarembski in the top 30. Following the season opener, WMU will host the George Dales Invite on Sept. 20 at 10 AM.
From there, the Brown and Gold will return to the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite on Oct. 4. WMU finished 10th at the event last season, with
Danielle Rinn,
Kayla Schiera and
CJ Nixon grabbing top-50 times. To round out the regular season, Western Michigan will head to Madison, Wis. for pre-nationals on Oct. 19.
The postseason begins with the MAC Championships on Nov. 2 in Muncie, Ind. WMU collected seventh place as a team and had two All-MAC performers in Rinn and Schiera at last year's event. Following the conference meet, the Broncos will head to Norton, Ohio for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 15. The team claimed 16th place at the regional meet in 2023.
To round out the season, Western Michigan will take part in the NCAA National Championships, which are being held in Madison, Wis. on Nov. 23.
