Men’s Soccer to Face Road Test at #9 New Hampshire

DURHAM, New Hampshire – The #12 Western Michigan University men's soccer team travels to Durham, New Hampshire to battle the #9 University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Sunday, August 25, at 5:00 PM. Sunday's match will be available on ESPN+. The Brown and Gold enter Sunday's match riding a 17-game regular season unbeaten streak, which includes an eight-game regular season unbeaten streak away from WMU Soccer Complex.

Last Time Out

The Brown and Gold delivered an electric 3-1 victory over #14 University of Vermont at WMU Soccer Complex this past Thursday. During the contest, graduate student forward Greyson Mercer supplied a career high two goals, while redshirt freshman defender Christian Shannon netted his first career goal for the Brown and Gold. During Mercer's first goal, Carson Hodgson was credited with an assist and moved his career total to 15 and counting. Hodgson enters Sunday's contest one assist away from tying Eric Conerty (2019-22) for the ninth most assists created in program history. As of Saturday morning, Hodgson ranks tied for 13th on the NCAA's active career assists leaderboard.

Scouting The Wildcats

New Hampshire enters the match riding a 13-game regular season unbeaten streak dating back to Friday, September 8, 2023. Last year, the UNH earned a 13-3-4 record and advanced to the Round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history. The Wildcats feature a blend of returners and new faces for the 2024 campaign with 14 returning members of the 2023 team and 15 new student-athletes. Last year UNH earned a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament, their highest seed in program history. The Wildcats would beat then-defending national champions Syracuse, 3-0, in the second round of the tournament. UNH would later fall to No. 9 seed and eventual national champion Clemson, 1-0, in the first-ever Round of 16 contest played at Wildcat Stadium.

Chasing History

Coach Chad Wiseman enters the contest two victories away from owning the program's all-time coaching wins title, which has been held by Blake Glass (1983-1997, 125 wins) since 1996. A win will earn Wiseman a share of WMU's all-time coaching wins crown.

Series History

The Broncos and Wildcats will face off for the first time ever at Wildcat Stadium on Sunday.
