KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Summer ball for several Western Michigan baseball players is in full swing as each of the major collegiate baseball leagues is now in action. Below is an update on the Broncos who are currently playing across the various summer leagues.
 
Southern Maryland Senators (Cal Ripken Sr. League)

• Matt Hoover – RHP
  • Named to the Cal Ripken Sr. League South Division All-Star Team
  • Ranks fourth in the league with a 2.63 ERA in 27.1 innings
  • Tied for second-most wins in the league with three
  • Leads the Senators with 27 strikeouts, tied for eighth in the league
• Avery Thielman – RHP/INF
  • Has made seven appearances on the mound and collected one save
  • In 13.1 innings, has totaled 19 strikeouts (12.8 K/9)
  • No earned runs allowed over last three outings (6.1 IP)

Alexandria Aces (Cal Ripken Sr. League)

• Brendan Harrity – INF
  • Has scored 12 runs, driven in 11 and stolen four bases in 16 games
  • Homered, doubled, scored four times and had seven RBIs in a June 27 win against the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts

Muskegon Clippers (Great Lakes League)

• Zach Vriesenga – RHP
  • Named the GLSCL Pitcher of the Week on July 8 after tossing 7.0 shutout innings with eight strikeouts against the Lima Locos on July 2
  • Sits atop the league with a 1.86 ERA in 19.1 innings
  • Hasn't allowed any runs in five of his seven appearances
  • Totaled 16 strikeouts to just four walks
• Cooper Hums – OF
  • Named to the GLSCL's Red All-Star Team
  • Owns a .317 batting average and .466 on-base percentage in 21 games
  • Ranks second on the team and sixth in the league with 15 steals

Michigan Monarchs (Great Lakes League)

• Tanner Mally – INF
  • Named a starter for the GLSCL's Blue All-Star Team
  • Ranks seventh in the league with a .351 batting average and eighth in on-base percentage at .484
  • Has scored 17 runs, driven in 13 and stolen eight bases in 22 games
• Cole Gebben – RHP
  • Has made five starts, totaling 22.1 innings
  • Logged at least 4.0 innings in each of the last four
  • Went a season-high 6.0 innings without allowing an earned run on June 22 against the Xenia Scouts
• Cooper Middleton – C
  • Has seen action in 15 games
  • Totaled four runs scored, six RBIs and seven walks

Wilson Tobs (Coastal Plain League)

• Grady Mee – INF
  • Hitting .273 with a .467 on-base percentage in seven games
  • Has scored five times and stolen a pair of bases

Wyoming Nationals (Shoreline League)

• Lucas Rick – INF/OF
  • Owns a .288 batting average, .397 on-base percentage, .558 slugging percentage and a .955 OPS in 63 plate appearances
  • Has launched four home runs
  • Walked more times (7) than he's struck out (5)
