KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Former Western Michigan right-hander
Brady Miller has signed a contract with the Chicago Dogs of the American Association, an official MLB Partner League. With his signing, Miller becomes the second Bronco to join the professional ranks this year, after fellow righty
Luke Thelen was drafted by the Colorado Rockies earlier this week.
A native of Plainfield, Ill., Miller was a fixture in Western Michigan's weekend rotation throughout his time in Kalamazoo. He announced his arrival with a stellar freshman season in 2019, as he went 5-2 with a 3.10 ERA in 15 appearances, 10 starts, to earn an All-MAC Second Team selection.
He made four starts in 2020 before the remainder of the season was canceled due to COVID-19, then saw action in 13 contests, including 12 starts, in the 2021 campaign for WMU. An injury forced him to sit out in 2022, but he returned in 2023 with a vengeance, ranking third in the league in innings pitched (89.0), seventh in strikeouts (89) and leading the MAC with seven conference wins on the way to another All-MAC Second Team selection.
This past season, Miller tied for the team lead with 85.1 innings pitched, tied for second-most in the MAC, and led Western Michigan in wins for the second consecutive season, racking up six victories. He tossed 7.0 shutout innings against Ball State in WMU's first game of the MAC Tournament to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team as the Broncos captured the second MAC Tournament title in school history.
A three-time Academic All-MAC selection, Miller concluded his Western Michigan career second all-time in innings pitched (304.0), fourth in strikeouts (262) and as one of six pitchers to record at least 20 wins for the Brown and Gold.
Miller holds a pair of degrees from WMU, an undergraduate degree in Finance and an MBA.
