KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team landed four student-athletes on the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, with
Karin Hamilton,
Audrey Smitek,
Valeriya Monko and
Maya Perkucin earning the honors.
Hamilton is the lone repeat from last year. She boasts a 4.00 GPA in psychology and was stellar in conference play. The Calgary, Alberta, native went 7-1 in MAC singles, helping the Broncos earn the No. 2 seed in the MAC Tournament.
Smitek was 9-7 in dual-match singles on the season, including going 5-4 in conference play. She has a 3.89 GPA in Accountancy. Monko wrapped up her career going 17-6 in dual-match singles, while posting a 6-4 record in MAC play. She also combined with partner
Lindsey Zieglar to go 13-5 in doubles matches, while posting a 3.80 GPA in Sport Management. Perkucin also finished off her career with the honors. The Toronto, Ontario, native has a 3.95 GPA in Biomedical Sciences and picked up five singles wins one doubles win on the season.
