KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball program and head coach
Dwayne Stephens have announced the signing of 6-1 transfer guard Marquese Josephs from Grand Canyon University. Josephs is the fifth newcomer the Broncos have signed for the 2024-25 season, joining fellow transfers Chansey Willis Jr. and Donovan Williams, as well as incoming freshmen EJ Ryans and Junior Sileu. Williams comes to Kalamazoo with three years of eligibility remaining.
"Marquese is going to be a great addition to our program," coach Stephens said. "He is a good student who comes from a great family. Marquese has experienced winning at the highest level. He is a strong and athletic guard who can really affect the game both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. We can't wait for him to get to campus!"
Josephs comes to Western Michigan from a Grand Canyon program which won the WAC regular season and tournament titles and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season. He saw action in 14 games as a true freshman for the Lopes, including an appearance in the WAC Tournament Championship Game. Josephs was a prolific shooter for GCU, hitting 7-of-9 (.778) from the floor and 7-of-8 (.875) from the free throw line.
A native of Toronto, Josephs moved to the Phoenix area before his junior year of high school, which he spent at Bella Vista Prep. He then completed his prep career and graduated from Dream City Christian School in Glendale, Ariz. Josephs won an Arizona state championship in high school and played club ball for Supreme Hoops, where he averaged over 20 points per game.
