Fish Sits in Top 20 After Two Rounds at Colonel Classic

RICHMOND, Ky. -- The Western Michigan golf team wrapped up the opening two rounds of the Colonel Classic at Gibson Bay Golf Course on Monday.
 
WMU opened with a 312 and took 10 shots off its second-round total, with a 302. The Broncos' 314 (+38) has them tied for seventh place heading into Tuesday's final round.
 
Graduate student Alissa Fish was Western Michigan's top finisher on the day after combining for a 151 (+7). Fish opened with a 78 and ended with a 73, currently sitting in a five-way tie for 16th. Fish sits just two shots out of the top 10.  Megha Vallabhaneni and freshman Isabella Brooks each ended up shooting a 154 (+10), while Natalie Samdal was just one stroke behind them with a 155 (+11). Sophomore Jenna Hayes finished with a 159 (+15) after a 79 and an 80 to round out WMU's top five.
 
Fish and Brooks each had a team-high 25 pars and had a team-best three birdies on the day.
 
The Broncos are back at it on Tuesday to wrap up the tournament.
