CLEVELAND - In partnership with CBS, the Mid-American Conference announced on Thursday that the Western Michigan men's basketball team's game against Akron set for Friday, March 8, has been selected to air nationally on CBS Sports Network. Originally slated for 7 pm that evening, the regular season finale between the Broncos and Zips has been slid up to a 6 pm tip off. That night will also serve as WMU's Senior Night, with plans for the Senior Night festivities to be announced at a later date.
The game between WMU and Akron marks the first contest for the Broncos to be selected as a part of the league's national television package this season. It will be the first game for Western Michigan on CBS Sports Network since the second MAC contest of the 2022-23 campaign, which saw the Brown and Gold visit Toledo.
Both WMU and Akron entered the first meeting of the season, back on Jan. 16, at 4-0 in conference play. Western Michigan held a slim halftime lead, with the Zips using an early second-half run to move ahead. The Broncos battled back to tie the game up at 56-56 with just over six minutes to play, but Akron used a late run to claim the victory on its home floor.
After completing a season sweep of Miami on Tuesday night at University Arena, the Broncos are at home once again on Saturday as they host Buffalo. Saturday features a basketball doubleheader, with the WMU women's team set to face Central Michigan at noon, followed by the men's game at 2:30 pm.
