Addison West Named Outland Trophy Semifinalist

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan senior guard Addison West has been named one of seven Semifinalists for the Outland Trophy, announced Wednesday evening.

The Outland Trophy is awarded annually to the nation's best collegiate interior lineman on offense or defense. The All-American Committee of the Football Wristers Association of America (FWAA) selected the semifinalists.

West has started every game this season, making 10 starts, with nine at guard and one at center. With West's performance, WMU has posted the MAC's top offense, averaging 31.3 points per game, 395.3 yards per game and 184 yards rushing per game. The Cary, Ill., native leads all FBS guards in run-blocking (90.9), pass-blocking (93.5) and has an overall Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade of 93.1. With West's help and the coaching of Offensive Line Coach/Co-Offensive Coordinator Trevor Mendelson, WMU was named to the Joe Moore Award 2024 Midseason Honor Roll.

West's excellence continues in the classroom, where he is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection and was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection last season. He is WMU's second Outland Trophy semifinalist, joining Chukwuma Okorafor (2017).

The semifinalists will be pared to three finalists on Tue., Nov. 26. The recipient of the 2024 Outland Trophy will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN on Dec. 12. The official presentation to the winner will be made at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner sponsored by Werner Enterprises and produced by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee in Omaha, Neb., on Jan. 22, 2025.
