MUNCIE, Ind. -- For the third time in program history and first time since 1991, the Western Michigan cross country team has gone three straight years with at least one All-MAC performer. The Broncos finished sixth as a team, with
Lillian Zelasko earning Second Team All-MAC honors.
Zelasko became the fifth member of the program to be named All-Conference in the last three years, joining Makayla Perez,
Kayla Schiera (x2) and
Danielle Rinn. She placed ninth with a PR time of 20:47.85.
Following Zelasko was
Grace Aurand, who finished 34th with a time of 22:03.58. After her,
Brooke Soper continued her strong senior season, crossing the finish line in 38th place with a time of 22:11.48. That marked her best finish at the MAC Championships in her career.
Rounding out the scoring lineup were
Lauren Sancrant and
Lara Machado Pereira, who finished 45th and 48th, respectively. Sancrant recorded a time of 22:15.87, while Machado Pereira was able to register a time of 22:21.98.
The entire WMU lineup finished in the top 80 of the meet, as
Lily Overton (54th),
Larissa McGrath (71st),
Delaney Knoll (74th) and
Madison Clor (80th) provided great depth for the Brown and Gold.
Western Michigan finished in the top half of the conference with one of the youngest lineups competing. Six of the nine runners for the Broncos have eligibility to return next season, including three in the scoring lineup.
