KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball team grabbed its season-high fifth consecutive win on Friday night as it topped Toledo in straight sets (25-22, 25-12, 25-14).

Keona Salesman put down a match-high 12 kills to lead the WMU attack, while
Anna Calcagno was also in double-figures with 10.
Logan Case handed out 35 assists and tallied four of Western Michigan's season-high tying 10 service aces.
Defensively, the Broncos limited Toledo to a .083 hitting percentage for the evening.
Andelyn Simkins anchored the back line with a match-high 25 digs, while Case chipped in eight and the duo of
Reeghan Boyer and
Carley Piercefield tallied seven apiece.
Madison Merz notched a team-high four blocks.
Holding a 6-5 edge in the first set, Western Michigan used a 4-1 spurt to increase the margin to 10-6. At 11-8, the Broncos rattled off six in a row to make it 17-8. With WMU in front 21-13, the Rockets ripped off four straight to begin a 9-2 surge which closed the gap all the way to one, 23-22. A Toledo service error and a block put the comeback bid to rest and gave the Brown and Gold the first frame, 25-22.
WMU tallied nine of the first 10 points of the second frame and led by as many as 13, 20-7. Toledo briefly worked the margin under 10, 21-12, but Western Michigan countered with the next four to take a 2-0 edge into the break.
The Brown and Gold kept the momentum going into the third set and raced out to a 7-2 advantage. With the margin at 10-7, Western Michigan used a 6-1 burst to extend its lead to 16-8. A 5-1 run then helped the Broncos make it a 22-11 cushion and put the Rockets away.
