PORTAGE, Mich. – Four Western Michigan golfers finished in the top 20 as the Broncos wrapped up hosting the WMU Bronco Fall Classic at The Moors Golf Club on Tuesday.
WMU finished third overall with a 54-hole score of 930, finishing just one stroke behind second-place Ohio and six behind champions Cal State Northridge. Central Michigan finished in fourth with a 937, followed by IU Indy (960), Valparaiso (977), Cleveland State (1,016), Northern Kentucky (1,018) and Eastern Illinois (1,048).
Junior
Megha Vallabhaneni finished in eight place with a 232 (+16) as the Broncos' top finisher. Sophomore Isabella Brooks finished two shots behind her with a 234 (+18) and led the team with 32 pars. Junior
Jenna Hayes ended the tournament with her best round of the two days, shooting a 76 to finish tied for 14th with a 235 (+19). Freshman
Lauren Lupinek ended with a 78 for a 236 (+20) and tied for 17
th, while classmate
Saanvi Venkatesh finished just outside the top 20. Venkatesh finish in 21st with a 237 (+21).
CSU Northridge's Gracie Piar was the individual medalist, finishing with a 221 (+5).
The Broncos are off until they close out the fall at the Terrier Intercollegiate, hosted by Wofford College Oct. 21-22.
