WMU Football Adds Three Transfers for 2024 Season

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan football program and head coach Lance Taylor have announced the additions of three transfers to the 2024 roster.

The Broncos welcome defensive lineman Rodney McGraw (Louisville), wide receiver Bugs Mortimer (Louisiana-Monroe) and defensive lineman Anterio Thompson (Iowa) to the Bronco Brotherhood.

Rodney McGraw | DE | 6-6, 290 lbs | Chicago, Ill./Louisville
- Originally attended Penn State, redshirting and then playing in five games as a freshman.
- Appeared in one game with the Cardinals
- Consensus four-star recruit out of high school.

Head coach Lance Taylor on McGraw – "Rodney is originally from Chicago, but played high school football in the state of Indiana at Elkhart High School. Coach Denham has had a great relationship with Rodney for many years and we knew Rodney was the type of person who would be a great culture fit here in Kalamazoo. He has great size and length at 6'6 with the ability to play inside or outside on our defensive line."

Bugs Mortimer | WR | 5-9, 165 lbs | Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Louisiana-Monroe
- Played two seasons at ULM, appearing nine games as a freshman and 10 as a sophomore.
- Also ran track at ULM.
- Comes to Kalamazoo with 21 total receptions for 327 yards, averaged 15.6 yards per catch.
- Consensus four-star recruit out of high school.

Head coach Lance Taylor on Mortimer – "Bugs is a dynamic wide receiver/kick returner and explosive playmaker. He adds elite speed and big play ability offensively and as a returner. He is originally from South Florida and has the traits and skills to make an immediate impact."

Anterio Thompson | DT | 6-3, 293 lbs | Dubuque, Iowa/Iowa
- Played one season at Iowa Western Community College before signing with Iowa.
- Played in seven games at Iowa, recording two blocked punts, including one against Western Michigan.

Head coach Lance Taylor on Mortimer – "Anterio's an interior defensive lineman who we had a chance to play against this past season against Iowa. He is another alum of Iowa Western Community College playing with current Broncos Isaiah Green and Marcel Tyler. Anterio has a championship pedigree and was one of the best Junior College players in the country before signing with a Big 10 school. He has great size and strength while always playing with relentless effort."
