Men's Basketball Travels to Toledo on Tuesday Night

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball team heads to Toledo on Tuesday evening for its lone meeting of the regular season against the Rockets.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Western Michigan begins a stretch of four out of five on the road on Tuesday night as it visits Toledo. The Broncos are 2-2 on the road in conference play this season. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Broncos are coming off of a 62-55 loss to Central Michigan on Saturday at University Arena. Seth Hubbard paced Western Michigan with 16 points, while Owen Lobsinger totaled 10 points and a career-high 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the campaign. Titus Wright nearly had a double-double of his own with eight points and nine rebounds, while Jefferson De La Cruz Monegro filled up the stat sheet with six points, six rebounds and nine assists. 

OWEN OWNS THE BOARDS
Owen Lobsinger led Western Michigan in rebounding for the 10th time this season on Saturday as he grabbed a career-high 12 boards. It was the second straight double-digit rebounding performance and fifth of the season for Lobsinger, who also notched 10 points to collect his second double-double of the campaign. For the year, the junior leads the team and ranks eighth in the conference at 6.6 boards per game. In MAC play, Lobsinger is tied with Anthony Crump for seventh in the league at 7.1 per game. 

CLEANING THE GLASS
Western Michigan has won the rebounding battle in nine of its last 11 games, including holding a 40-34 edge on Saturday against Central Michigan. The Broncos lead the conference in both offensive rebounding (12.7) and offensive rebounding percentage (.346), and are tied with Bowling Green for the top spot in total rebounding (38.4). WMU has stepped up its rebounding efforts in conference play, ranking atop the league in total rebounding (40.1), rebounding margin (+5.6), offensive rebounding (12.9) and offensive rebounding percentage (.352).

OFFENSE CLICKING
WMU's offense has seen an uptick in conference play as well, with the team averaging 76.8 points per game, third-most in the league. In league play, the Broncos are averaging 14.9 assists per contest, second-best in the MAC, and have bumped their field goal percentage up to .459 (5th MAC) and three-point percentage to .364 (5th).

SHARING IS CARING
Led by guards Jefferson De La Cruz Monegro and B. Artis White, WMU is second in the league at 14.0 assists per game. De La Cruz Monegro and White rank sixth and seventh, respectively, in the MAC at 3.2 assists per game. The duo has upped their averages in conference play, with De La Cruz Monegro sixth at 3.6 and White 11th at 3.4 per contest. White boasts the top assist-to-turnover ratio in league games (2.5), while De La Cruz Monegro is seventh at 1.8. 

DIALING LONG DISTANCE
Led by Seth Hubbard's 2.6 three-pointers per game, second-most in the MAC, Western Michigan is tied for fourth in the league with 8.1 triples per contest. In conference play, Hubbard (2.4, 14th), B. Artis White (2.0, T-9) and Owen Lobsinger (1.9, T-12) all rank among the league leaders in made three's.

DEFENDING THE DEEP BALL
Last Tuesday against Eastern Michigan, the Broncos limited the Eagles to five made three-pointers on a 20.8 three-point percentage, both of which were season lows against the Brown and Gold. Western Michigan was stingy again on Saturday, with CMU making just two triples on 11 attempts (18.2 percent), all of which established new season lows for a WMU opponent. In league play, opponents are shooting 42.1 percent from the floor, third-lowest in the MAC, and 32.7 percent from distance, which is fifth.

SERIES HISTORY
Entering Tuesday, Toledo owns a 93-63 lead in the all-time series against Western Michigan, including a 59-15 edge at home. The Rockets have won the last 12 matchups, with WMU's last win a 61-56 overtime victory at Savage Arena on Feb. 21, 2017.

HOMEWARD BOUND
Western Michigan returns to University Arena on Saturday afternoon for its first meeting of the season against Ball State.
