ST. LOUIS --The Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy presented by Mungenast St. Louis Acura and Alton Toyota will be awarded to the top male and female collegiate soccer players in the nation on Friday, January 5. The crystal soccer ball trophy represents the highest individual achievement in the sport. The finalists for the 2023 men's MAC Hermann Trophy are Western Michigan's Charlie Sharp, Ousmane Sylla (Clemson), and Garrison Tubbs (Wake Forest). The finalists for the women's award are Eleanor Dale (Nebraska), Onyi Echegini (Florida State), and Brecken Mozingo (Brigham Young). Former U.S. National Team standouts Lori Chalupny and Mike Sorber will be the featured speakers.

At the conclusion of the 2023 season, the forward from Brighton, Michigan, ranked first in the NCAA with 0.95 goals per game, 2.30 points per game, and was tied for second with seven game-winning goals. This season, Sharp accumulated 19 goals and eight assists for a total of 46 points, an NCAA best in all of division one men's soccer for 2023.

The striker concluded his career at WMU with 42 goals, 22 assists, and 106 points in 89 games played. Sharp will leave Western ranked first in career goals and tied for fourth with teammate Dylan Sing with 22 assists. Sharp is also tied with Sing for first in program history with 89 caps for the Brown and Gold.
