Men's Basketball Unveils Non-Conference Slate

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's basketball program and head coach Dwayne Stephens have announced the team's non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 campaign. The Broncos are slated for 13 non-conference tilts, including five home games at University Arena. All game times are set to be announced at a later date.

"We're very excited to announce our non-conference schedule for this upcoming season," Coach Stephens said. "We feel we've put together a competitive schedule that will challenge us and help us get ready for MAC play. We have a great opportunity to start the season with back-to-back home games and look forward to seeing you all in University Arena this season!"

The Broncos begin the 2023-24 campaign at home on Monday, Nov. 6, as they welcome North Dakota State to University Arena. Western Michigan then plays the first of its two contests as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Nov. 11 as it hosts Georgia State. WMU is set to play a road game against a Sun Belt Conference team on Saturday, Feb. 10, with the opponent to be announced in January.

Western Michigan hits the road for the first time on Nov. 14, as it visits Northwestern. WMU begins play in the previously announced Emerald Coast Classic with a trip to Ohio State on Nov. 19. The following weekend, the Broncos head down to Niceville, Fla., to continue the tournament against Southeastern Louisiana (Nov. 24) and either Mercer or Tennessee State (Nov. 25).

WMU returns to University Arena to begin the month of December, with a Dec. 1 home tilt against St. Thomas. On Dec. 5, the Broncos make the short trip down to South Bend, Ind., to face Notre Dame. Western Michigan is back at home that weekend, Dec. 9, to take on Youngstown State.

The Broncos hit the road for their last two games before the holiday break, with trips to UIC (Dec. 16) and Cleveland State (Dec. 21). WMU's final game before MAC play begins is set for Dec. 29 at home against Aquinas.

Fans can get their first look at the 2023-24 Broncos next Thursday, August 10, as the team is holding an open practice from 5-7 pm at University Arena. Western Michigan takes its preseason trip to Spain from August 16-24, with the team set to play three exhibition contests in preparation for the upcoming campaign.
