The Western Michigan soccer team (1-1) will wrap up their season-opening road trip out west against Western Athletic Conference's Air Force (0-2) on Thursday, August 31, at 9:00 PM in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Live stats information is available under the men's soccer schedule.

Thursday evening will mark the WMU's first-ever matchup against the Falcons. Last year, Air Force's squad salvaged an 8-6-3 overall record with an outstanding 7-1-1 in conference play en route to the team's third WAC regular season title since 2017. The Falcons return head coach Doug Hill, the reigning WAC Coach of the Year and last year's leading goal scorer, senior forward Thaddaeus Dewing (11 goals in 17 matches), a member of the 2022 WAC All-Conference first-team. On August 17, the Falcons announced that Dewing was named the 2023 WAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. 

During the first two tests of the season opening road trip, the Broncos saw a heartbreaking 2-0 defeat to #12 University of Vermont and a 3-1 bounce back victory over Kyle Beckerman and Utah Valley State. This past Sunday, the Brown and Gold saw a well rounded victory over the Wolverines: Carson Hodgson scored his first two career goals, Charlie Sharp tallied a goal and an assist, and defenders Jonathan Robinson and Jaylen Shannon recorded an assist each during the match. Additionally, goalkeeper Ethan Brandt saw a career best seven saves in the victory over Utah Valley to put himself in a tie for the 9th most saves in NCAA Division I men's soccer as of Monday. After Sunday's win, coach Chad Wiseman continued to cement his legacy within the men's soccer program: Wiseman now sits three victories away from becoming the second coach in program history to eclipse 110 career victories. Wiseman, currently with 107 victories, is 18 wins away from sharing the all-time wins record (125 wins) with Blake Glass (1983-1997). 

Western Michigan's third straight road match to open the 2023 regular season marks the third time in four seasons that the Broncos would start their regular season campaign in such a manner. 

After Thursday's contest with the Falcons, the Brown and Gold will return home to host Butler at WMU Soccer Complex for Bronco Soccerfest on Monday, September 4, at 3:00 PM. The game will be streamed on ESPN+. Tickets are available here.
