KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's and women's tennis teams will host Ball State, simultaneously, at Sorensen Courts on Friday at 1 p.m.
Admission is free. Live scoring will be available at www.wmustats.com.
The Bronco women are coming off a split last weekend with Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois. WMU fell to EMU, 4-3, but rebounded for a 6-1 victory over NIU.
Western Michigan has won the doubles point in three of its five MAC contests so far this season. A big reason for the doubles success has been its top two pairings of Lindsey Zieglar and Valeriya Monko at No. 1 and Karin Hamilton and Audrey Smitek at No. 2/3. Zieglar and Monko are 14-3, all at No. 1. The duo is also 4-1 in MAC play. Hamilton and Smitek are 11-3 overall, going 5-2 at No. 2 and 6-1 at No. 3.
Freshman Ariane Souligny has led the way in singles. She went 2-0 last weekend and is now 13-2 on the season, with a 4-1 record in MAC play. Souligny, who joined the team in January, has a four-match win streak heading into Friday.
Friday's match is the first of three-straight at home for the Broncos. WMU hosts Buffalo next Friday at 1 p.m. and Toledo on Sunday at 1 p.m. Western Michigan then heads on the road to wrap up the regular season at Bowling Green and Northern Illinois.
