WMU's Norman, Hubbard Receive All-MAC Recognition

CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced its postseason awards for men's basketball on Wednesday, with Western Michigan senior guard Lamar Norman Jr. and freshman guard Seth Hubbard receiving All-MAC recognition. Norman was an All-MAC Honorable Mention selection, while Hubbard was named to the All-Freshman Team.
 
Norman earns an All-MAC honor for the second straight season, having been named to the All-MAC Third Team after the 2021-22 campagin. The senior led the Broncos and finished sixth the conference in scoring this season at 17.3 points per game. He scored in double-figures in 27 of his 30 games, had 20 or more points 11 times and tallied 30+ points in three games this season. On Feb. 7 at Miami, Norman became the 45th player in program history to score 1,000 points at WMU.
 
The Grand Rapids, Mich., native was one of the top three-point shooters in the MAC again this year as well, making 2.8 triples her game, second-most in the league and 41st in the nation. Norman also ranked fifth in the conference with an 83.7 free throw percentage.
 
Norman was Western Michigan's top distributor with 94 assists and ranked 12th in the MAC with 3.1 helpers per game. He upped his average to 3.6 assists in league play, the 11th-best mark in the conference. His 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio was eighth-highest in the league.
 
Hubbard is WMU's first All-Freshman selection since Titus Wright earned the honor after his freshman campaign in 2019-20. A native of Jonesboro, Ga., Hubbard scored in double-figures 10 times on the way to an average of 7.5 points per game. He made 42.6 percent of his three-pointers on the season, the sixth-best mark in the conference.
 
Starting with a career-high 20-point game at Miami, Hubbard ended the season on a hot streak which saw him hit 17-of-31 three-pointers (54.8 percent) and average 11.5 points in Western Michigan's final eight games of the season. The guard's hot streak helped him finish at 8.6 points per game in conference play, and with the fourth-best three-point shooting percentage (45.8 percent) in league games.
