KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Thanks to a sweep of Colorado College this past weekend, the Western Michigan hockey team secured a home series for the opening round of the NCHC Playoffs. Tickets are now on sale for the March 10-12 series, with the winner of the best-of-three series heading to St. Paul for the NCHC Frozen Faceoff. The Broncos still have four games left in the regular season and their opponent will be determined based on the final league standings.
Season-ticket holders do not need to buy tickets for the playoff series, as the first round is included in season-ticket purchases.
Ticket prices remain the same as regular season, with premium seating beginning at $30, bench seating is $25 and the PNC Zone is $20. For a limited time, fans can get $10 tickets as part of the Be A Lunatic Package. Sections 11 and 23 will have discounted tickets available for fans who want to sit among the Lawson Lunatics. That package will last just 48 hours, ending at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Tickets are general admission.
Student tickets can be claimed beginning next Monday, Feb. 27. Student tickets will be free and can be claimed the same way as regular season tickets. Students will also have the option to purchase guest tickets for $10 at that time.
WMU has recorded four straight sellouts, including last weekend's series against Colorado College that featured attendance figures of 3,585 on Feb. 17 and 3,761 on Feb. 18. The Broncos have won 11 of their last 12 games and will host a first round NCHC Playoff series for the second consecutive season. WMU sits at No. 5 in the DCU/USCHO.com poll and No. 6 in the Pairwise rankings with a 21-10-1 overall record.
