Football Announces 10 More Additions to the Bronco Brotherhood for 2023

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan football program and head coach Lance Taylor are excited to announce the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday and six mid-year additions.  

The group joins the 12 student-athletes previously announced in December.  

Tre' Hartwell | Running Back | 5'11, 225 lbs | Thompson's Station, Tenn./ Independence High School 
- Rated three-star prospect by 247 Sports 
- Led team in touchdowns and rushing yards, also played linebacker 

Head Coach Lance Taylor on Tre' Hartwell - "Tre' is a big and powerful runner that has great size and creates yards after contact. He also has great versatility in the passing game, catching the football and as a blocker. His father, Rasheen, is a former DI college football player and his grandmother is a Western Michigan alumnus." 

Jacob'e Oglesby | Defensive Back | 6'0, 190 lbs | Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King High School 
- Ranked three-star prospect by 247 Sports 
- Ranked the 27th-best prospect in the state of Michigan 
- Helped MLK High School to two State Championships 

Head Coach Lance Taylor on Jacob'e Oglesby - "Jacob'e is a standout multi-sport athlete and state champion from a Midwestern Powerhouse in MLK High School. His athleticism, size and length jumped off the film. He has incredible versatility and the chance to play multiple positions for us on defense. Jacob'e is the type of high school prospect that has a chance to develop into a special player here at WMU." 

Joey Pope | Wide Receiver | 5'11, 165 lbs | Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West High School 
- Rated two-star prospect by 247 Sports 
- Played multiple positions, also running track and playing rugby 
- Helped Glenbard West to Illinois State 8A Semifinals 

Head Coach Lance Taylor on Joey Pope - "Joey is a wide receiver from Chicagoland powerhouse Glenbard West High School. He is a speedy, versatile playmaker with the ball in his hands and excelled on both sides of the football. He visited WMU multiple times throughout the recruiting process with his family and will be a great addition to the Bronco Brotherhood. 

Marcus Woodley | Linebacker | 6'0, 230 lbs | Homestead, Fla./Homestead High School 
- Averaged nearly eight tackles per game as a senior, while recording 17.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks on the season. 
- Helped team to 12-3 record last season 
 
Head Coach Lance Taylor on Marcus Woodley – Marcus is a tough, physical linebacker that has good size and speed. Coach Popovich has been recruiting South Florida for many years and we feel Marcus is the type of player we need to continue to add to our defense. He has great potential and we re excited to see him grow as a student-athlete.  
 
Tate Hallock | Safety | 6'4, 210 lbs | Grand Rapids, Mich./Michigan State 
- Three-year letterwinner at MSU, with 17 career games played 
- Academic All-Big Ten selection 
- Two-time Grand Rapids Press Dream Team selection at Forest Hills Central High School 
 
Head Coach Lance Taylor on Tate Hallock"The Hallock family is full of collegiate athletes with his dad, Ty who played football in college and the NFL for seven seasons, his brother Tanner (football) and his sister Theryn (basketball). Tate possesses great size, length and instincts for the position and has a great relationship back from his high school recruitment with our defensive coordinator Coach Esposito." 
 
Isaiah Green | Defensive Lineman | 6'2, 300 lbs | St. Cloud, Minn./Iowa Western Community College 
- Recorded five sacks in second season at Iowa Western 
- Helped lead the Reivers to a National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship, shutting out Hutchinson Community College 34-0 in the title game 
 
Head Coach Lance Taylor on Isaiah Green - "Isaiah is a defensive tackle, originally from Minnesota. He helped lead Iowa Western to a NJCAA Championship. He's a former high school state championship wrestler, who is very physical against the run and has a high motor." 
 
Marcel Tyler | Defensive Lineman | 6'4, 270 lbs | Racine, Wis./Iowa Western Community College 
- Played in eight games, recording four sacks and five tackles for loss. 
- Teammate of Isaiah Green, helping lead Iowa Western to a NJCAA National Championship 
 
Head Coach Lance Taylor on Marcel Tyler - "Marcel has a great frame for development and is a type of player our defensive staff covets with his ability to play multiple positions on the defensive line. He and Isaiah helped lead Iowa Western to a national championship last season and before that he was a standout dual-sport athlete at St. Catherines High School in Wisconsin, and helped lead them to a state championship in basketball." 
 
Ryan Wynn | Defensive Lineman | 6'3, 275 lbs | Anderson, S.C./Georgia Military College 
- Recorded 5.5 career sacks at GMC, playing in 21 career games 
- Also recorded 8.5 career tackles for loss 
 
Head Coach Lance Taylor on Ryan Wynn - "Ryan comes from a football family. His father, Stephon, played at Clemson and brother Stephone Wynn Jr. Is currently a defensive lineman at Nebraska. He has a world of upside and has his best football in front of him. Ryan is a great young man who comes from a great family." 
 
Chad Schuster | Offensive Lineman | 6'6, 270 lbs | Franklin, Wis./Syracuse 
- Redshirted last season at Syracuse as a freshman 
- No. 10-ranked prospect in Wisconsin out of High School 
- Rated three-stars by Rivals and 247 Sports 
- Second Team All-State selection as a senior 
 
Head Coach Lance Taylor on Chad Schuster – "Chad has the prototypical heigh and length we are looking for to continue the history and success WMU has had on the offensive line. Chad was a team captain in high school and helped lead his team to an undefeated season and a state championship. A dual-sport athlete, he was also a standout in track and field in the shot put and discus." 
 
Bilhal Kone | Cornerback | 6'2, 190 lbs | Apple Valley, Minn./Indiana State 
- Played in eight games last season at Indiana State, making 34 tackles, six pass break ups and recovering one fumble. 
- Also played at Iowa Central Community College 
 
Head Coach Lance Taylor on Bilhal Kone - "BK is a long cornerback who also has a chance to be a standout on special teams for us here at WMU. Being a mid-year enrollee, he has the chance to particpate in winter workouts and spring practice during the spring semester, which will help his development and push him to get on the field in the fall."
