Logan Case Earns AVCA Honorable Mention All-American

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its NCAA Division I All-America teams on Wednesday, with Western Michigan senior setter Logan Case earning AVCA Honorable Mention All-American.

Case becomes just the seventh player in program history to earn All-American status, and the first since Rachel Bontrager was named an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American after the 2020 season (played during the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

A native of Maineville, Ohio, Case recorded 30 or more assists in 33 of WMU's 34 matches on the way to leading NCAA Division I in total assists with 1,421, and ranking second nationally in assists per set at 11.94. On Oct. 17 against NIU, Case became Western Michigan's all-time leader in career assists, and in the MAC Championship against Bowling Green, became the first Bronco to eclipse 5,000 career assists.

Behind Case's setting prowess, the Western Michigan attack ranked among the best in the country in assists per set (4th, 13.53), kills per set (7th, 14.35) and hitting percentage (25th, .272). The Broncos combined that offense with a strong defense to have one of its best seasons in program history, going 31-3 and winning both the MAC Regular Season and Tournament championships to reach their league-record 13th NCAA Tournament.

The Broncos went on to upset No. 7 seed Auburn in the first round of the NCAA Tournament for their first tournament win since 2008. Western Michigan's 31 wins were the most since the 1983 campaign, and its 21-match winning streak was the longest since that same 1983 season.

In addition to being an Honorable Mention All-American, Case has been named AVCA Midwest All-Region First Team, College Sports Communicators Academic All-District, MAC Player of the Year, MAC Setter of the Year, MAC Championship Tournament MVP and was selected to the All-MAC First Team for the fourth consecutive season.
