CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly track and field awards this afternoon, with
BriYanna Robinson earning the Field Athlete of the Week honor. She is the first Bronco to win a MAC weekly award since
Makayla Perez last season.
Robinson had an amazing debut in the Brown and Gold, claiming third in the shot put and fifth in the weight throw at the GVSU Holiday Open. Her mark of 14.78 meters in the shot put was good for the fourth best mark in program history. Additionally, that mark is the best in the conference and 23rd in the nation.
She followed that up with a throw of 17.67 meters in the weight throw, which was good for ninth in program history. That throw was also the second best mark in the MAC so far this season.
Robinson and the Broncos will be back in action on Jan. 13 at the Wolverine Invite, hosted by the University of Michigan.
