KALAMAZOO, Mich. – For the second consecutive year, four members of the Western Michigan volleyball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team®. Senior setter Logan Case, graduate student outside hitter Maggie King and senior libero Andelyn Simkins all earned the honor for the second consecutive year, while senior outside hitter Keona Salesman was a first-time honoree.
 
A French major with a 4.00 GPA, Case adds another accolade during a year in which she has already been named the MAC Player of the Year, MAC Setter of the Year, MAC Championship Tournament MVP, earned a spot on the All-MAC First Team for the fourth consecutive season and, most recently, been selected to the AVCA Midwest All-Region First Team. The senior leads NCAA Division I in total assists this season with 1,421, and ranks second nationally at 11.94 assists per set.
 
Owner of a 3.97 GPA, King graduated from WMU with a degree in Child & Family Development back in April, and is currently pursuing a master's degree. Like Case, she was selected to the All-MAC First Team for the fourth consecutive season. The Cincinnati native ranked fifth in the MAC and 72nd in the nation with 420 kills, and sixth in the league and 79th in the country at 3.68 kills per set. King also finished in the top-10 in the conference in both total points (467.5, 6th) and points per set (4.10, 8th).
 
Salesman boasts a 3.95 GPA as a Biomedical Sciences major. The Coldwater, Mich., native was named to the All-MAC Second Team this fall after a season during which she ranked eighth in the conference with 386 kills and 10th in the league at 3.42 kills per set. Salesman finished especially strong for Western Michigan, notching double-digit kills in eight of WMU's last 10 league contests, as well as both matches in the MAC Championship on the way to earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
 
Simkins became the fourth Bronco to be selected as the MAC Defensive Player of the Year this season, earned a spot on the All-MAC First Team and was selected to the MAC Championship All-Tournament Team. A Sport Management major with a 3.58 GPA, Simkins ranked second in the conference in both total digs (592) and digs per set (4.97) this season. Nationally, her 592 digs are 17th in the country, while her 4.97 digs per set rank 23rd.
 
The 2023 Academic All-District® Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
All four Broncos who were selected are now eligible for CSC Academic All-America® voting.
