WMU CLINCHES REGULAR SEASON TITLE
WMU ran its winning streak up to 15 in a row last weekend with a sweep of Ball State, its longest winning streak since 2000, when it won 19 straight. With the sweep, the Broncos clinched at least a share of the MAC Regular Season Title and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming MAC Volleyball Championship. It is Western Michigan's 10th regular season title and first since 2008. WMU is 15-0 in the MAC for the first time since going 16-0 in 1986.
LAST TIME OUT
The Broncos are coming off of a weekend sweep of Ball State to improve to 12-0 at University Arena this season. Western Michigan dropped the first set to the Cardinals on Friday night, and then rebounded to win the final six sets of the weekend on the strength of an offense which hit .291 over the course of the two matches.
Logan Case averaged 14.00 assists per set and recorded double-doubles in both of WMU's victories.
MUNSON REACHES 200 MAC WINS
Saturday's victory over Ball State was the 200th MAC win for WMU head coach
Colleen Munson. Munson is the fifth head coach in league history to reach this milestone. The MAC's all-time leader in conference wins is Miami's Carolyn Condit (376).
BRONCOS SWEEP PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
For the fifth time this season, WMU swept the MAC West Player of the Week awards, with
Logan Case (Setter),
Maggie King (Offensive) and
Andelyn Simkins (Defensive) claiming the honors. Case had 98 assists (14.00/set) and helped set King up for 37 kills (5.29/set) while hitting .297. Simkins had 40 digs (5.71/set) and was 36-for-36 on serve receive.
SETTING THE TABLE
Logan Case enters Friday leading NCAA DI in assists (1,134) and is second in assists/set (11.94). Fueled by the senior's setting prowess, the Broncos lead the MAC in assists/set (13.58, 3rd in DI) and kills/set (14.49, 4th). WMU is second in the league and 27th in DI with a .270 hitting percentage.
DIGGING IN DEFENSIVELY
Led by senior libero
Andelyn Simkins, WMU is atop the conference and 30th nationally with 16.29 digs/set. Individually, Simkins is second in the league and 25th in the nation at 4.94 digs/set.
SERIES HISTORY
Western Michigan enters the weekend with a 60-17 advantage in the all-time series against Toledo. The two teams have split their two regular season meetings each of the last two seasons.
