LONG BEACH, California -- TopDrawerSoccer named its Team of the Week honors Tuesday for the week of October 16-October 22. Today, graduate student defender Jaylen Shannon was named to TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week for the first time this season. 

Last week, the defender from St. Joseph, Michigan, contributed to massive success for the Broncos, assisting in a 3-1 win versus Northern Illinois and then playing the full 90 in a 2-1 upset against the 16th-ranked team in the nation in Missouri State. Although Shannon did not have the "box score" numbers, he was a verbal leader and helped organize the backline vocally to success, especially in the win over Missouri State Sunday evening. 

Over the past 10 games, Shannon and Western Michigan's back line has limited opponents to 0.6 goals on average. As a result, the Broncos have fed off of the defensive energy and embarked on a program record 14-game unbeaten streak, which began on Sunday, August 27th in a 3-1 road victory over Utah Valley. 

Shannon and the rest of the Broncos will return home for Senior Day on Friday, October 27, versus Belmont with an early 3:30 PM kickoff. Live Stats and livestream information is available under the men's soccer schedule.
