TALLAHASSEE, FL. -- College Soccer News released its top 30 poll for the week ending October 1, this morning. The Western Michigan University men's soccer team re-entered the top 30 and landed at 28th in week six's poll.
Last week WMU saw 1-0 road wins over Wright State and #20 University of Illinois Chicago. The win over #20 UIC marked the team's first top-25 win of the season and fourth shutout over the past five games.
Dylan Sing would score both game-winners in the two matches for the Broncos, as he extended his personal (and program) record to six consecutive games with a goal scored. On the defensive end, goalkeeper
Ethan Brandt notched his second consecutive shutout and the fifth of the season. Western's defensive back line led by junior captain
Jonathan Robinson performed exceptionally during the month of September. In the team's seven games last month, the Brown and Gold allowed an average of 0.85 goals per match.
The Broncos are riding a nine-game unbeaten streak, which began on Sunday, August 27, in a 3-1 victory over Kyle Beckerman's Utah Valley University. The men's soccer team is one game away from matching last year's best unbeaten streak of 10 games, in which they recorded nine wins and one tie from Thursday, September 1, 2022 - Sunday, October 9, 2022. The program record for the most games without a loss is 11, which has been set twice: first in the 1983-84 season and last matched during the 2017 campaign.
The men's soccer team will return to action this Saturday in a road matchup against the University of Evansville at 4 PM. Live Stats and live stream information is available under the men's soccer schedule.
